Welcome to Introduction to Business

State of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
120.25. Introduction To Business (One-Half to One Credit).


(a) General requirements. This course is recommended for students in Grades 9-10.

Introduction. Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to strengthen individual performance in the workplace and in society and to make a successful transition to the workforce and/or postsecondary education. Students develop a foundation in the economical, financial, technological, international, social, and ethical aspects of business to become competent consumers, employees, and entrepreneurs. Students enhance reading, writing, computing, communications, and reasoning skills and apply them to the business environment. Students incorporate a broad base of knowledge that includes the legal, managerial, marketing, financial, ethical, and international dimensions of business to make appropriate business decisions.

We will primariy be working with MOODLE, and gaggle email until we get to the end of the semester. We will use this site for collaberative work, presentation of student work, extra credit and web searches.




Project


At the end of the semester you will work on a collaberative project to create of Mock Business Plan. You can choose one business from the following examples:



Service Industry {Example: Salon, Auto Repair or Customization, Pet care, Lawn Care, Doctor}

Food Industry {Example: Fast Food, Fine Dining, Delivery}

Manufacturing {Example: Home builder}

Entertainment {Example: Skateboard park, Amusement Park, Bowling/Gaming}

Retail {Examples: Clothing, Sporting Goods, Crafts, Candy}

Once you decide on which business you want to start, you will work together as a team to complete 5 stages of business development.

This project will be turned in as a digital portfolio and will count as your final exam.
